Inclusive Learning
St Edmund’s College is dedicated to offering a well-rounded education that caters to the diverse learning needs of all the boys in our care.
Our teachers are devoted to adapting their teaching strategies within the classroom to ensure every student receives the individual support they require. We understand that some students benefit from tailored assistance to help them thrive academically. Our Inclusive Education Department oversees the provision of appropriate adjustments for students from Years 5 to 12.
Adjustment Summaries and Personalised Learning Plan
The Inclusive Learning Department creates adjustment summaries and individualised learning plans for students with diagnosed disabilities or identified learning needs. These plans are developed collaboratively with the student, their parents or caregivers, the Director of Inclusive Learning, Inclusive Learning staff and subject teachers. The plans outline learning objectives, the impact of the student’s disability or learning needs in the school environment, and adjustments to teaching and assessments. These plans are regularly reviewed and updated based on specialist reports, the student’s development, and their evolving needs.
Teacher Aide Support
Teacher aides are available to assist students, working closely with both subject teachers and Inclusive Learning staff to help boys engage with and participate in the curriculum. Depending on the needs of the students, teacher aides may provide one-on-one support or work with small groups, following the guidance of the subject teacher.
In the spirit of reconciliation, St Edmund’s College acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
