Eddies Cubs Program
Starting at a new school can be a challenging experience for many students; the shift often brings a mix of excitement and apprehension.
The Eddies Cubs Program is a tailored initiative designed to support Year 4 students as they transition to a new school environment. This program runs one hour after school in Terms 2, 3, and 4, the year before students begin in Years 5 at St Edmund’s College.
Transitioning to a new school can be a significant step for any student. The Eddies Cubs Program is designed to smooth the transition by introducing students to St Edmund’s College in a welcoming and supportive way. It allows students to get to know the campus, meet key staff members, and connect with other incoming students, all of which helps reduce the anxiety that often accompanies a new school environment.
One of the most notable benefits of the Eddies Cubs Program is its capacity to ease the stress of starting at a new school. By giving students a chance to explore the campus and familiarise themselves with essential locations like classrooms, the library, and common areas, they gain the confidence to navigate their surroundings. This early exposure helps them feel more comfortable and prepared, reducing the usual first-day jitters.
Starting at a new school also means meeting new people and forming new friendships. The Cubs Program facilitates this process by providing structured opportunities for students to interact and build connections with their future classmates. Through engaging group activities and team-building exercises, they can develop a sense of camaraderie and mutual support. This emerging social network will be invaluable as they begin their academic journey at St Edmund’s College.
The Eddies Cubs Program not only helps students feel more at home in their new school but also lays the groundwork for strong friendships and a sense of community that will last throughout their time at St Edmund’s College.
In the spirit of reconciliation, St Edmund’s College acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
