Rugby Development and Rugby Target Squads
The Rugby Development & Target Squad initiatives at St Edmund’s College were established to support highly skilled students in further developing their abilities.
This program targets students in Years 7 to 9 as they prepare for the rigours of Opens Rugby, aiming for Firsts XV. This opportunity has helped create a pathway for many former Eddies players to pursue professional opportunities in both Rugby Union and Rugby League, whether that is here in Australia or overseas.
The dedicated students involved participate in both group and individual training sessions throughout the year. Participants leverage the expertise of our staff and facilities in the Sports Performance Centre (gym) to enhance their overall athleticism. This initiative has allowed students opportunities to apply their newly developed skills in real-game scenarios in the AIC Competition, representative level Rugby & League and also at tournaments such as the Ballymore Cup.
In the spirit of reconciliation, St Edmund’s College acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
