| A social environment
that respects enthusiasm and encourages participation is
the best atmosphere for study.
St Edmund's provides a wide
variety of co-curricular activities. These activities help
individuals to grow and develop to realise their full potential.
Students are encouraged to participate in sporting, cultural
and other pursuits. When students involve themselves fully
in this programme, they have the chance to relate with their
teachers and their peers on a different level and to display
talents not necessarily in evidence in the classroom.
As a member of the Associated
Independent Colleges (A.I.C.), St Edmund's has accepted
responsibility to participate in the full sporting programme
of that association.
St Edmund's is its students.
Enrolment here constitutes an undertaking to fulfil commitments
to the school's cultural, religious, social and sporting
activities. These are to take priority
over the demands of outside bodies. St Edmund's deserves
to field, in all its co-curricular involvement, the best
possible representatives at whatever level of performance.
No student should absolve himself from this commitment.
It is expected that each student
will involve himself in at least one co-curricular activity
each year.
