Golf


Opportunities for social golf are offered during Term 1 and Term 4 and an open team is selected to participate in Balharry Shield competition against other AIC schools.

 

Chess


The Chess Club meets regularly throughout the year and Junior and Senior teams are selected to participate in AIC Chess competition in Term 2.

 

Mooting


Opportunity for Senior students to participate in an Appeal Court process which enhances their understanding of the legal system.

 

Public Speaking


Opportunities for participation in various Public Speaking competitions are offered throughout the year e.g. Lions Youth of the Year, Rostrum Voice of Youth, Rotary.

 

Readers Cup


Reader’s Cup is a state wide reading competition run by the Children’s Book Council of Australia - Queensland Branch. The aim is to foster a love of reading amongst students. St Edmund’s is part of the Brisbane West Division. The school enters a team in the 8/9 category. Heats are held in June. Teams of 4 students spend Term 2 reading six books. They answer questions on these books at the regional final. The winners of each division go on to represent the region at the state final which is part of the Brisbane Writer's Festival in September.
