TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY - [PART B]
Computer
Facilities Use Agreement:
As a student at St Edmund’s College, I will:-
respect the computer
equipment, and take care of the equipment and rooms;
report any faulty,
damaged or missing equipment immediately to my teacher;
NEVER allow anyone
else to use my account or give my password to anyone else;
NEVER use another
student’s account or tamper with another student’s account in any way;
NEVER attempt
to change the system in any way or to bypass security;
report any security
lapses that I may discover; (Do not go looking for security problems,
as this will be construed as an illegal attempt to gain access to the
system);
NEVER download
program files or documents onto the College network;
NEVER install
unauthorised computer programs onto the network or into my home directory;
use the printing
facilities wisely;
leave the computing
facilities neat and tidy
obtain and take
my diary signed by my teacher if I wish to use the computers during
another class period.
Student
Email Acceptable Usage Agreement:
As a student at St Edmund’s College,
I will:-
be a responsible
Email user and respect the rights of others;
understand
that as an official St Edmund’s College Email account holder, my communications
must be consistent with the high standards of our College;
not allow
another student to use my Email;
only access
my College Email account while on the College network.
I will not use any other Email programs or Web mail;
NEVER threaten,
abuse or harass any other user;
NEVER send
offensive, racist or sexist messages; (a misspelled word will be treated
as its correctly spelled equivalent).
Student
Internet Acceptable Use Agreement:
As a student at St Edmund’s College, I will:-
only access
material on the internet that is directly related to my College work
during school time;
be aware
that I may encounter material that would be considered offensive or
inappropriate because of obscene, pornographic, racist, violent
or illegal content . Accordingly I am responsible for monitoring
and appropriately rejecting information or links accessed by me. Hence
I will not intentionally attempt to retrieve, view, store or disseminate
such inappropriate material;
restrict
my use to the internet and will not use chat channels, news or other
services without the permission of my teacher;
not download
or use software, games or music;
acknowledge
any ideas or material of others that I use in my work by listing their
source in a bibliography and clearly indicating any directly quoted
material;
not reveal any personal contact details
about myself, or others, on the web.
This includes home, College and work addresses, email addresses,
telephone and credit card numbers;
not use the internet for business purposes, financial gain or for political
purposes;
accept that
my internet usage is monitored by the College and that I am responsible
for the sites visited by my login .
As a student at St Edmund’s College, I will:-
observe all
copyright laws, including those relating to computer software;
respect
the rights and privacy of other users;
report any
obscene or offensive material I encounter;
accept that
St Edmund’s College has the
right to monitor all activities on the College’s network.
realise that,
if I do not abide by the above rules, the penalties as outlined in the
Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy will be applied.
