Tuition in a range of musical instruments are extra subjects taken by specialist teachers during or after class periods. They involve extra payment over and above school tuition fees. The boys will be asked early in February if they wish to study any of these subjects.

Parents are asked to discuss these matters with their sons so that the boys will know what to do next year. The fee is the same fee charged by the Queensland Music Teachers' Association. In addition to classroom Music, the opportunity is provided for students to develop keyboard skills through tuition in:

- Piano
- Bass Guitar
- Lead Guitar
- Rhythm Guitar
- Jazz Piano
- Singing lessons
- Flute
- Clarinet
- Saxophone
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass
- Drums
- Percussion
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Synthesizer

One 30-minute lesson per cycle is arranged, with the student coming out of class at a time which will cause the least disruption possible to his academic timetable. These lessons cater for beginners, as well as allowing for more experienced musicians to develop expertise in a wide a range of musical styles.

Students are encouraged to prepare and sit for recognized Music Board examinations (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). In this way, the standard of both technical and performance work can be monitored, and a student is able to obtain an idea of the level of achievement he has reached.
